Method 1: Verify and rebuild company data
Step 1: Verify the company file data
- First, you need to open the QB application.
- Head over to the File menu.
- Choose Utilities and tap on Verify Data.
- After clicking on Verify Data, you may receive one of the following messages:
- "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data": This message indicates that there is no issue with the data. So don’t do anything with it.
- If you receive an error message, you must consult a professional for guidance.
- In case you receive a message saying "Your data has lost integrity", you need to rebuild your company file because something is wrong with it.

Step 2: Rebuild the company file data
- Go to the File menu.
- Choose Utilities, followed by Rebuild Data.
- It will ask you to create a backup of the company file before proceeding.
- Choose OK.
- Pick a place where you want to save the backup file.
- Again, choose OK and don’t replace another backup with this one.
- Enter a file name.
- Tap Save.
- Click OK after seeing the “Rebuild has Completed” message.
- After this, you must check for additional damage to be on the safe side.
- Open the File menu again.
- Choose Utilities, followed by Verify Data.
- If it finds damage, you will need to fix it manually. If it doesn’t find any data, you can restore the backup file.
- Move to File and click Open or Restore Company.
Method 2: Reconnect your bank or credit card account in Online and QB Solopreneur
In QBO:
- Go to All Apps.
- Choose Accounting and then click on Bank Transactions.
- After this, you need to click on the bank or credit card account that you want to reconnect.
- See the error message and tap on Fix now.
- Cross-check the user ID and password that you use to sign in to the bank’s website.
- If needed, enter your bank information.
- Choose Save and connect.
- If you have successfully reconnected, you will receive a prompt stating, Connection Complete and transactions updated!
- Tap on Close X.
In QB Solopreneur:
- First, you need to sign in to your QBO account.
- Head to the Transactions menu.
- Choose the Link Account dropdown.
- Now, you need to choose Manage connections.
- After this, you need to click on More options for the bank account that you want to reconnect.
- Cross-check the user ID and password that you use to sign in to the bank’s website.
- If needed, enter your bank information.
- Choose Save and connect.
- If you have successfully reconnected, you will receive a prompt stating, Connection Complete and transactions updated!
- Tap on Close X.
